Principal Kathleen Bajo's Healthcare Design Presentation 2015

Kathleen Bajo co-presented “Planning for the Flexible Use of the Neonatal Couplet Care Rooms:  A Large Birth Service Experience” at the Healthcare Design Expo and Conference in Washington, DC, in November 2015.

Wtih standing room only, Orlando Health’s Stacy Jemtrud, Patient Care Administrator, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies and Kathleen lived up to the conference logo for participants to DISCOVER WHAT’S NEXT.

While more common internationally, neonatal couplet care is relatively new in the United States with only a few facilities implementing this concept. A 30-bed unit was planned to accommodate hospitalized postpartum mothers with their Level II infants in the same room. This unit, which opened in February 2014, is the largest of its kind in the US. This session described the facility and staffing requirements necessary to safely operate this unit and shared operational challenges and outcomes.
